Without proper equipment, studying from home can be like trying to climb a mountain while wearing a flip flop. Here some tips, tools, and tricks for you to make the process easier, whether you are new to Open Distance Learning (ODL) or want to advance your experience.

 

Digital Gear

    •  Laptop/Desktop – Nothing Fancy needed, but make sure it can handle video calls, multiple tabs, and basic software.
    • Noise- cancelling Headphones – Block distractions and dive into lectures or study playlists.
    • External Storage or Cloud Backup – Google Drive, or external hard drive can save you from data disasters.

 Apps you will love

    • Google Keep - For taking searchable notes.
    • Grammarly – A writing assistant to make sure your assignments are clear and polished.
    • Zoom / Google Meet/ Teams – Your virtual classrooms.

Organize Like a Pro


    • Google Calendar – Use this to track assignments, exam dates and study sessions. Use color code by course or priority for visual clarity.

    • Set Clear Goals – Define your goals and break them into smaller, achievable steps. You can use SMART goals,
          • S - Specific
          • M - Measurable
          • A - Achievable
          • R - Relevant
          • T - Time-bound

    • Create a weekly schedule - Make a study schedule for each week and approach it as commitment.

    • Gamify your progress - After completing each module, treat yourself with small gift or item
    • Join study group – Accountability is a powerful tool
    • Make it visual – Use a wall chart or whiteboard to record your journey
